Kuwait’s General Authority of Civil Aviation activated its emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday after Terminal 1 was struck by Iranian drones and missiles, causing significant damage to airport facilities and a number of casualties.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the authority’s official spokesperson, said competent teams responded immediately to the incident in line with approved emergency procedures, with passenger and staff safety the stated priority.
All flights have been suspended and diverted to alternative airports until further notice, Al-Rajhi said, pending the completion of security and technical checks and confirmation that the airport is ready to resume operations.
Technical teams have begun a comprehensive assessment of damage to facilities and operational systems, he added, as a precursor to repair and rehabilitation work. The authority said it would provide updates to the public as additional information becomes available.
