Key points

  • Brass Monkey Hospitality opens two concepts in Motor City late summer
  • Hey Tiger features Japanese, Korean and Chinese cuisine led by chef Prabin Tamang
  • Group also expanding to Abu Dhabi and Bahrain

Brass Monkey Hospitality is bringing two concepts to Motor City Clubhouse later this year: an expanded Brass Monkey venue and Hey Tiger, a new restaurant the group describes as a modern Asian social house. Both are set to open in late summer, occupying separate floors of the same destination.

The ground floor will carry the Brass Monkey brand’s established format of food, drinks, bowling, games and music. Hey Tiger will occupy the upper floor, built around open-kitchen dining and a menu that pulls from Japanese, Korean, Chinese and broader East Asian cooking traditions, including robata grill, sushi, sashimi, maki, wok-fired dishes, dim sum and Korean barbecue.

Tabletop grills are a centrepiece of the Korean barbecue offering, with guests cooking premium cuts and marinated meats at the table. An outdoor terrace is planned for the cooler months following summer.

The kitchen at Hey Tiger will be led by Prabin Tamang, previously of Dubai’s Mimi Kakushi and OKKU, supported by a team drawn from other recognisable Asian restaurants in the city.

“Motor City gives us the opportunity to bring the next evolution of Brass Monkey into a neighbourhood setting while introducing Hey Tiger to a completely new audience. With Hey Tiger, we also wanted to create a restaurant where the food feels genuinely rooted in the cultures and techniques that inspired it,” Simon Robinson, director of operations and franchise at Brass Monkey Hospitality said in a statement.

“At Hey Tiger, we wanted to create something that feels immersive from the moment guests arrive. Open kitchens, music, movement, conversation and a strong sense of atmosphere all working together around the food. The kitchen team comes from some of the most respected Asian restaurants in Dubai and brings an incredible level of experience and authenticity to the concept. At the same time, we wanted the pricing to feel honest and accessible, somewhere guests can return to regularly for dinner, drinks or a night out, rather than saving it only for special occasions,” he added.

The Motor City opening is part of a broader regional expansion. Brass Monkey Hospitality has additional locations planned for Galleria Mall Abu Dhabi and Bahrain Harbour Financial District. Exact opening dates and reservation details are yet to be announced.
