Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, has said that while wars can create temporary difficulties, the UAE’s foundations position it to absorb and overcome them.
Writing on X, Gargash said the country’s strength lies in “wise leadership, strong institutions, a competitive and advanced economy, and authentic values based on solidarity, tolerance and justice.”
He was direct about the origins of that strength. The UAE’s success, he said, “was not the product of coincidence, but the result of a deeply rooted vision and years of sincere and continuous work.” The country, he added, is capable of confronting challenges with confidence and stability.
The comments come as the region navigates a period of heightened tension, with US-Iran negotiations ongoing and questions about the security of the Strait of Hormuz still unresolved. Gargash has been one of the UAE’s most prominent voices on both fronts in recent weeks, having previously described Iran’s conduct as having shattered Gulf trust and put the chances of a US-Iran Hormuz agreement at 50/50.
