Huawei has launched the MatePad Pro Max in the UAE, positioning it as the thinnest and lightest 13-inch tablet currently available. At 4.7 mm, it is measurably slimmer than the 5.5 mm of its predecessor, a reduction the company says required redesigning the internal architecture rather than simply trimming the chassis.
The key engineering change is the move away from a layered sandwich construction to an integrated all-metal unibody design, which Huawei says is a first for the tablet category. Components are embedded directly into the mainboard using a laser-assisted process, and load-bearing beams run through the frame to prevent flex. The company says bending resistance has improved by 60% compared to the previous generation, with additional steel reinforcements around the camera, mainboard, and battery.
The display is a 13.2-inch 3K OLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It uses a nano-level etching process that Huawei says improves anti-glare performance and eye comfort, and has received TÜV Rheinland Full Care Display 5.0 Certification.
On the software side, the device ships with an updated version of WPS Office that includes AI-assisted tools and online collaboration features, alongside HUAWEI Notes, which now supports document and PowerPoint imports. The tablet is compatible with the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro and the Glide Keyboard, which integrates storage for both the stylus and the keyboard itself.
A 10,400 mAh battery supports up to 14.5 hours of local video playback, according to Huawei. The device also supports 40W reverse charging, allowing it to act as a power bank for other devices. Audio is handled by a six-speaker system with a quad-driver bass unit.
