Gold fell to its lowest level in two weeks on Tuesday, with spot prices slipping 0.2 per cent to $3,993.83 per ounce. The move follows a sharper sell-off in the previous session, when the metal lost around 3 per cent in its largest single-day percentage decline in more than a month.
US gold futures for August delivery steadied at $4,000.70.
Other precious metals also declined. Silver dropped 1.2 per cent in spot trading to $56.98 per ounce, after earlier touching a two-week low. Platinum fell 1 per cent to $1,589.35, while palladium slipped 0.4 per cent to $1,242.54.
