As the FIFA World Cup enters its final rounds, UAE residents are spending on home entertainment upgrades. New data from dubizzle, the UAE’s largest online classifieds marketplace, shows a broad rise in demand for televisions, gaming consoles and home theatre equipment between May and June.

Television was the standout category. Views climbed 11.8 per cent month-on-month, from more than 428,000 in May to nearly 480,000 in June, and TV-related searches generated close to 23,000 queries in June, the highest of any World Cup-related category on the platform. Searches for 43-inch sets surged by 392.8 per cent over the same period.

“The World Cup consistently brings people together, and our data shows that many UAE residents have upgraded their home entertainment setups throughout the tournament. Whether it’s investing in a larger television, a gaming console or a home theatre system, consumers are looking for ways to create a more immersive viewing experience and enjoy the final stages of the competition with family and friends. The strong demand we’re seeing also highlights the role online marketplaces play in helping people access these products more conveniently and across a range of price points,” Matthew Gregory, Senior Director of Strategy at dubizzle said in a statement.

Gaming activity was equally striking. The gaming systems category recorded 11.4 per cent growth in views, reaching almost 620,000 in June, making it the most-viewed category overall.

PS5 searches rose 66 per cent month-on-month, PS5 Pro searches jumped 115.1 per cent, and searches explicitly mentioning “FIFA World Cup” increased by 211.9 per cent.

Interest in bigger, more immersive setups also grew. Home theatre system views rose 9.2 per cent month-on-month, and projector demand remained strong as consumers looked to recreate a stadium-like atmosphere at home.
