Dubai Police has set out the fees, documents, channels and conditions for people applying for a Police Clearance Certificate, with the service taking five working days.
The certificate is issued to show that an applicant has no record of crime within the United Arab Emirates.
The service is for individuals and can be accessed through the Dubai Police App, Dubai Police website, Call Centre, DubaiNow, Smart Police Stations and police stations.
Application process
The application process includes review, payment and confirmation. Under applicant details, users are asked to select a user type and provide an Emirates ID and email address. The Emirates ID and email address are required.
Applicants must also state the purpose of the certificate, the entity requesting it and the language in which the certificate is required.
Acceptance of the terms and conditions is also required. The service page also provides Listen, Dictionary and Translate functions.
Fees
Fees are charged according to the applicant’s status. UAE citizens pay AED 100, while residents pay AED 200. Applicants applying from outside the UAE pay AED 300 or $88.
A further AED 20 is charged under Knowledge and Innovation Dirhams. Applicants who submit an application in person through a service centre also pay an extra AED 100.
Dubai Police states that fees paid for the service are not refundable. Payment can be made by cash or debit card at service centres and Smart Police Stations. Debit cards, credit cards and Apple Pay are also listed as payment methods.
Documents required for applicants outside the UAE
People applying from outside the UAE must provide a photograph, a copy of their passport and a copy of the residence visa they previously held.
Dubai Police says an applicant requesting the certificate from outside the UAE must have entered the UAE before making the request. Applicants outside the UAE who do not have a ten-print fingerprint record must send a copy of their ten-print fingerprints certified by the UAE Embassy.
Emirates ID and fingerprint requirements
Applications can be submitted using an Emirates ID number whether the Emirates ID remains in force or has expired. Applicants who do not have an Emirates ID must attend a service centre during working hours so that fingerprints can be taken.
Fingerprint services for such applicants are available at Al Qusais Police Station, Ports Police Station, Al Rashidiya Police Station and Jebel Ali Police Station.
Dubai Police says the applicant bears responsibility for ensuring that the information submitted is correct. It also states that misuse of the certificate can result in legal action.
An applicant must not be wanted by an authority or have a record of crime that would prevent the certificate from being issued.
Service channels and working hours
Dubai Police provides the service through the Dubai Police App, Dubai Police website, Call Centre, DubaiNow, Smart Police Stations and police stations.
Channels operating online are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Police stations operate from 7.30am until 10pm, while Smart Police Stations operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How applicants receive the certificate
Once issued, the certificate can be sent to the email address linked to the applicant’s account.
Applicants can also log in to their Dubai Police account, open the “My Requests” section of their dashboard, search for the request and download the certificate.
A certificate can also be downloaded through the “Application Status” service by using the application reference number. Dubai Police states that the certificate remains in force for three months from the date of issue.
