Dubai Police have returned 171,490 lost items to their owners in 2025, as the Lost and Found Department processed 868,110 found items over the course of the year.
The General Department of Criminal Investigation, which oversees the Lost and Found Department, received 159,962 reports of lost belongings through police stations across Dubai.
Reports were also submitted via drop-off points at shopping centres and Smart Police Stations (SPS), alongside other channels that allow the public to report and hand in lost property.
Dubai Police said the results reflect collaboration between law enforcement and the community, noting that members of the public play a role by handing in found items – a process that helps speed up their return and reflects values of responsibility, honesty, and cooperation.
Lost something in Dubai? Here’s how the Police Smart Recovery system works
The Lost and Found Department operates through a smart system that links reports of lost items with recovered belongings. The system is supported by teams working around the clock to ensure accuracy and communication with owners, enabling return processes that are both efficient and flexible.
Beyond receiving reports, the department provides a range of services, including direct communication with owners and options for collection. Dubai Police said these efforts contribute to customer satisfaction and strengthen public trust in police services.
Dubai Police urged the public to hand in any found items through official channels, particularly police stations, stating that community cooperation is essential to protecting others’ property and ensuring its return.
In light of weather conditions and rainfall, Dubai Police highlighted the importance of reporting lost vehicle number plates without delay. Residents are advised to call 901 or visit the nearest police station.
Specialist teams handle such reports and contact vehicle owners as soon as plates are recovered. Where an owner cannot collect the plate in person, it can be delivered via Emirates Post services.
Dubai Police said this reflects their commitment to providing services that save time and effort, in line with the government’s vision of enhancing quality of life and simplifying procedures.
