Dubai Police has seized 408 electric scooters, e-bikes and bicycles from riders flouting traffic rules in the Gold Souk area, as part of a campaign run by Naif Police Station in coordination with the General Department of Traffic.

Of the total, 300 were electric scooters, 50 electric bicycles and 58 conventional bicycles. Riders who failed to comply with traffic regulations faced legal action alongside the seizure of their vehicles.

The campaign ran a parallel awareness track, with 932 people reached through safety education sessions covering designated riding paths, the use of protective equipment and general traffic compliance. Safety gear was also distributed to workers in the area.

Brigadier Omar Mousa Ashour, Director of Naif Police Station, said Dubai Police places strong emphasis on traffic awareness as part of a broader strategy to cut accidents and improve road safety standards across the emirate.

Ashour urged scooter and bicycle users to stick to designated paths and wear appropriate protective equipment at all times. Riding outside sanctioned areas, he warned, creates confusion for motorists and raises the risk of collisions. He also called for sustained community and media campaigns to embed safer habits among all road users.
