False reports of Jackie Chan’s death have spread across social media, prompting widespread confusion among fans before multiple fact-checkers confirmed the claims had no basis.
No announcement has come from Chan’s family, representatives, or official social media accounts. No credible news organisation has reported his death.
This is not the first time the actor has been the subject of such a hoax. In 2011, rumours that he had died of a heart attack spread widely enough that his team felt compelled to address them through his official Facebook page, confirming he was “alive and well.” A second hoax surfaced in 2022, again without any supporting evidence.
Chan, 72, has remained active in recent months. Earlier this year he attended the Cannes Film Festival, where he spoke about his career and received a standing ovation.
