Donald Trump will attend Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain in the New York area, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt confirmed to reporters.
“We look forward to the final on Sunday, and I know the president is looking forward to attending,” Leavitt said. “His presence will crown a World Cup that has been the most watched, the most secure, and the most successful in American history.”
When asked whether Trump had a preferred team for the final, Leavitt said she wasn’t sure, but encouraged reporters to ask him directly. “I’m sure he’ll give you an entertaining answer,” she added.
Trump will also attend a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in New York City on Friday ahead of the match.
