Emirates is bracing for high departure volumes at Terminal 3, Dubai International, starting this weekend, and is asking passengers to build in extra time across every stage of their journey.
The busy period begins July 3–5 and, the airline said, weekend congestion is expected to persist throughout the summer holiday season.
The airline recommended arriving at the airport three hours before departure, clearing immigration at least 1.5 hours out, and reaching the boarding gate one hour before the flight. Traffic approaching DXB, parking, security screening, and the walk between concourses all add time that passengers tend to underestimate in peak season.
To reduce time spent at the airport itself, Emirates is pointing travellers toward its off-site check-in options. Bags can be dropped at DXB up to 24 hours before departure, or 12 hours ahead for US-bound flights, allowing passengers to go directly to immigration on the day.
City check-in is available at the Emirates travel store in ICD Brookfield Place, DIFC, open daily from 8am to midnight until 10 August, and around the clock at Emirates City Check-In Ajman, located in the Ajman Central Bus Terminal. Both accept bags from 24 hours down to 4 hours before departure.
A home check-in service covering Dubai and Sharjah sends an agent to collect luggage from a customer’s home, hotel, or office, at no charge for First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members. It must be booked at least 24 hours ahead.
For those going directly to the airport, self-check-in kiosks and bag-drop pods near the terminal entrance are among the faster options. Skywards members can also pre-register for Emirates Biometrics through the airline’s app to use facial recognition at the airport. Online and app check-in open 48 hours before departure.
Inside the terminal, a complimentary train connects Concourse A and Concourse B. A shuttle bus runs between Concourse A and Concourse C every 20 minutes, around the clock, with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. First Class passengers can request dedicated buggies; airport buggies are available free to all travellers, with priority for elderly passengers, families with children, and People of Determination.
On packing, Emirates is reminding passengers that power banks must go in hand luggage, not checked bags. Smart bags are permitted in the cabin if the battery is removable and the bag meets size and weight limits. E-cigarettes and personal vaporisers must be individually protected against accidental activation and carried on board only.
People of Determination travelling through DXB are entitled to dedicated check-in, passport control and security lanes, priority boarding, and two hours of complimentary airport parking.
