Emirates has converted one of its Airbus A380 aircraft into a ‘Sleigh380’ for its Christmas campaign, fitting the superjumbo with a red nose modelled after Rudolph the reindeer.
The Dubai airline released its Christmas greeting this year in the form of a video showing an A380 departing from Dubai International Airport. The aircraft appears with a hold filled with gifts for passengers, according to the campaign narrative.
The video shows ground handlers dressed as elves from dnata, Emirates’ ground handling partner, loading presents onto a sleigh attached to the aircraft. The Sleigh380 then takes off down the runway.
Emirates Christmas A380 video created without AI, airline confirms
Emirates addressed speculation about the production method in its social media caption. “And before you ask: Nope, this isn’t AI,” the airline stated, confirming the video was created through manual digital artistry.
The airline worked with @100.pixels, a digital artist who has produced previous A380 content for Emirates. The artist commented on the post: “I would like to book the Business class seat on the Sleigh, please. Merry Christmas.”
The campaign has received engagement across Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.
This marks Emirates’ second Christmas campaign. The airline released a video last week featuring television presenter Andi Peters, who showcased the airline’s December meal offerings.
Passengers flying with Emirates in December will have access to drinks, desserts and gifts as part of the Christmas programme.
The airline will serve turkey with chestnut stuffing, truffle potato gratin and Brussels sprouts. Other options include lamb shank with herbs and duck confit with cranberry glaze.
Dessert selections include fruitcake, mousse and a strawberry-and-cream dish for First Class passengers.
