The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast convective cloud development over parts of the UAE’s eastern and southern regions from today through Friday, with rainfall of varying intensity expected mainly during afternoon hours.
The conditions are being driven by the northward advance of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, the extension of an upper-level trough from the east, and a surface low-pressure system approaching from the south. Moisture drawn in from the Sea of Oman, combined with rising temperatures and the influence of the eastern mountain range, is adding to the instability.
Winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly and moderate, picking up to fresh or occasionally strong speeds where convective clouds develop.
Blowing dust and sand may reduce horizontal visibility during this period. Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate across both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
