Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) handled 19.48 million passengers in 2025, according to the Sharjah Airport Authority. The figure represents a 13.9 per cent increase from 17.1 million passengers in 2024 and 15.36 million in 2023.
The airport processed 116,657 flights in 2025, compared to 107,760 flights in 2024 and 98,433 in 2023, recording 8.3 per cent growth.
Air cargo operations reached 204,323 tonnes in 2025, up from 195,909 tonnes in 2024 and 141,358 tonnes in 2023. Sea flight cargo volumes rose to 16,770 tonnes in 2025, compared to 14,035 tonnes in 2024 and 12,566 tonnes in 2023.
Sharjah International Airport reports 13.9% passenger growth in 2025
On this occasion, Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority, said that the results achieved in 2025 reflect the success of the airport’s long-term strategy and its ongoing commitment to operational excellence. This has been evident in the continuous rise in passenger numbers and cargo volumes, in line with the Authority’s goals to enhance capacity, elevate service quality, and support Sharjah’s economic and tourism ambitions, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
He said that investment in infrastructure, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives remains a cornerstone of the airport’s growth, alongside partnerships with airlines and logistics operators.
For his part, Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Airport Authority, said that the 2025 results reflect the airport’s advanced role in supporting travel and business movement, strengthening Sharjah’s position as a key destination on the regional and international market map.
He noted that this growth is underpinned by an integrated ecosystem that includes advanced infrastructure, effective operational governance, and a supportive regulatory environment, enabling the airport to meet rising demand efficiently while maintaining high levels of service quality and reliability.
Sharjah Airport adds four airlines and 100+ destinations in 2025
Air Arabia launched flights from Sharjah to Krabi, Munich, Prague, Warsaw Modlin, Vienna, Addis Ababa, Sochi, and Damascus in 2025. The airline announced that London will be added to its destinations from March.
The airport added connections to Ahvaz, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas in Iran.
Four airlines joined Sharjah Airport in 2025: SalamAir from Oman, Caspian Airlines from Iran, Fly Sham from Syria, and Ethiopian Airlines. The airport now connects to more than 100 destinations.
Sharjah Airport introduces home check-in service for passengers
The airport introduced a home check-in service in 2025, allowing passengers to complete procedures before arriving at the airport and proceed to passport control upon arrival.
A hospitality service was launched to facilitate travel procedures, with a lounge at the entrance of the Departures Building where passengers can complete check-in and receive boarding passes.
Sharjah Airport deployed 5G+ network coverage in cooperation with du, becoming the first airport in the UAE to offer the service.
The airport uses digital solutions to manage travel procedures from check-in to boarding. A digital information desk provides services and support for people of determination.
The airport’s medical centre received upgrades and equipment.
Transit passengers can access accommodation through a hotel within the airport.
The “Hala” service provides reception, assistance, and support for passengers who are elderly or people of determination.
UAE citizens can renew passports at Sharjah Airport 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a partnership with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
