UAE EV targets and market outlook

The initiative supports the UAE’s target for 10 per cent of all cars to be electric by 2030 under the country’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy.

The UAE’s EV market is projected to reach around AED 7.16 billion by 2025, with electric vehicles expected to account for more than 15% of new car sales by 2030.

“Together with Salik and Schneider, we’re turning EV charging into a zero-hassle, seamless experience journey—arrive, plug in, go. With Salik’s trusted wallet and Schneider’s reliable hardware, we’re scaling an experience that will accelerate EV adoption across the UAE,” Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Chief Executive Officer, Vcharge explained.

The partnership adds a payment-integrated charging option to the UAE’s transport infrastructure and expands the role of a major toll operator into EV services.

The companies did not disclose deployment timelines or pricing details. The network will be rolled out nationwide with installation, integration and maintenance led by Vcharge, hardware supplied by Schneider Electric, and payments managed through Salik’s E-Wallet.
