Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an upgraded version of its nol Pay app, introducing features and functionalities for public transport users in the emirate.
The upgrade forms part of the first phase of RTA’s project to upgrade the nol system using Account Based Ticketing technologies.
The launch focuses on achieving several objectives, including aligning the app’s interface with the unified ‘Look and Feel’ of RTA’s digital ecosystem.

The upgrade supports the objectives of the ‘Services 360’ policy of Dubai, which promotes integration among entities to simplify procedures, eliminate requirements, and reduce transaction times, according to a statement by the Dubai Media Office.
The project underscores RTA’s commitment to advancing the Government’s Zero Bureaucracy Programme.
RTA has introduced a range of features and enhancements in the upgraded nol Pay app. Users can now manage family members’ nol cards, including submitting applications for children, linking or deactivating family cards, and recharging balances for members.
The app allows users to schedule top-ups for family cards at intervals and with amounts selected by users. The system sends notifications to remind users to top up balances, renew nol cards, or extend the validity of travel passes.
The app enables instant nol card top-ups and balance enquiries in real time. Users can purchase travel passes instantly through the app.
Additional services include mobile phone balance top-ups within the app.
The nol Pay app supports digitising nol cards on Samsung and Huawei devices, enabling users to make payments across all public transport modes and retail outlets with a tap—without needing to open the app.
By the end of 2024, more than 33,000 digital cards had been sold, marking an increase of over 460% compared to the previous year. The app recorded 1.5 million downloads, a rise of more than 150% compared to 2023.
The upgrade reflects RTA’s commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and convenience for public transport users across all segments of society in the emirate, reaffirming nol Pay’s position as a digital payment solution for public transport riders in Dubai.
