The partnership follows Etihad’s first flight to Addis Ababa on October 8 and forms part of a Joint Venture agreement between the two national carriers.

The Joint Venture between the airlines demonstrates a commitment to offering travel options and a journey for passengers travelling between destinations on Ethiopian’s network โ€“ such as Kampala, Uganda; Kinshasa, DR Congo and Lusaka, Zambia โ€“ and cities in the UAE and Asia.

Etihad destinations include Colombo, Sri Lanka; Islamabad, Pakistan, and routes including Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Krabi and Chiang Mai in Thailand and Medina, Saudi Arabia, which will launch on November 9.

Addis Ababa was Etihad’s tenth of 31 destinations announced this year as part of the airline’s network expansion. The airline is working towards plans to fly to 125 destinations by 2030, expanding its presence in Africa alongside destinations like Tunis and Zanzibar launching in November and June respectively.
