Emirates SkyCargo has deployed a weekly freighter service to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), expanding its network across East and Southeast Asia.
The cargo division of Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, now operates the most diversified route network of any non-Asian airline.
The new service offers regional customers more flexibility to move goods worldwide via Dubai. Emirates SkyCargo now serves 43 global destinations with its dedicated freighter fleet, 11 of which are located in East and Southeast Asia.
New weekly freighter to Bangkok expands Emirates SkyCargo’s Asian network
Thailand’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic policy continues to drive investment in innovation and advanced technologies. The country is developing leadership in next-generation automotive, smart electronics, medical and biotechnology, and robotics sectors.
Emirates SkyCargo, with its specialist product portfolio, an all-widebody fleet of over 260 aircraft, and a global network, is positioned to facilitate the transport of Thailand’s high-value technology exports, as well as other commodities such as garments and stone fruits.
“Our operations across East and Southeast Asia are among the most expansive on our global network – from flight frequencies, freighter deployment, available capacity and gateways served. However, the demand is exponential and therefore the region will be the foundation of our expansion plans through 2026 and beyond,” Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo’s Divisional Senior Vice President said in a statement.
“Markets such as Thailand and Vietnam are the new heartbeat of global trade, with established and modern manufacturing capabilities, evolving digital economies and world-class logistics infrastructure. We do not see demand slowing and stand ready to support the region’s growth with the quick, reliable and efficient movement of goods worldwide,” he added.
Driven by continued demand, Emirates SkyCargo has also increased freighter frequency to Hanoi to four weekly services. Three of these connect directly to Dubai World Central (DWC), while the fourth links Dubai, Taipei, and Hanoi, providing direct connectivity for Vietnamese-based customers to and through Dubai.
In mainland China, the airline has added a sixth weekly freighter to Guangzhou to meet demand dominated by consumer technology, electrical goods and e-commerce shipments.
To maintain stable capacity during peak periods and seasonal fluctuations, Emirates SkyCargo also deploys ad hoc freighter capacity across the region.
Over three decades of operations, Emirates SkyCargo has built its East and Southeast Asia presence to 25 gateways, operating 45 freighter services, 13 charter services and 315 passenger flights weekly, providing a total of 21,000 tonnes of available cargo capacity.
