The agreement with Loong Air forms part of Emirates’ wider strategy in the Chinese market.

In the previous year, the airline launched flights to Shenzhen and Hangzhou. The airline also introduced its Premium Economy cabin on these routes and resumed Airbus A380 operations on services to Shanghai. Emirates refers to Premium Economy as “award-winning” and the A380 as “iconic”.

Emirates has operated services to mainland China since 2004. It currently serves Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou with 49 weekly flights using Airbus A380, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

In addition to Loong Air, the Dubai-based airline has existing partnerships with Air China, China Southern Airlines and Sichuan Airlines. These arrangements provide access to more than 110 destinations across China beyond Emirates’ own network through its five gateways.
