Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recorded proceeds of AED109,026,000 at its 120th open auction of vehicle number plates on Saturday, December 27.
The figure represents the highest revenue in the history of number plate auctions since their launch.
Plate number BB12 achieved the top sale at AED9.66 million. Plate number AA25 sold for AED8.04 million, while BB30 reached AED6.74 million and CC100 fetched AED4.21 million.

The results reflect the success of RTA’s strategy for managing open and electronic auctions. The approach is based on neutrality and transparency, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants seeking to acquire number plates.
RTA offered 90 vehicle number plates at the auction, featuring two, three, four, and five-digit numbers. The plates came from codes AA, BB, CC, K, N, O, R, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.
Registration opened on Monday, December 22. Participants could register through RTA’s website, at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha, or at the auction venue. Priority was given to those who registered in advance.
The sale of number plates was subject to a 5 per cent value-added tax.
