Careem has announced the launch of a Tip Matching feature that will double customer tips for delivery and ride-hailing Captains across the UAE during Ramadan.
The initiative, running from February 18 to March 19, will see the company match every customer tip of AED10 or more at no cost to the customer. The matched amount will be sent directly to Captains’ Careem Pay accounts.
The feature covers Careem rides, Hala Taxi trips booked through the app, and orders placed on Careem Food, Quik, Shops, or Box. Careem has partnered with Hala for the initiative.

This year, we are doubling the impact of our customers’ kindness: 100% of every tip goes directly to our Captains, and Careem will match it dirham-for-dirham. Rooted in our value of being ‘Generous,’ this initiative is a tangible way to honor the spirit of the Holy Month and improve the lives of our captains,” Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem said in a statement.

“Hala Taxi Captains are an integral part of the Careem platform, and this initiative ensures they directly benefit from the increased generosity seen during Ramadan. Tip Matching is a meaningful way to support Captains on the road, helping them earn more while continuing to deliver a reliable service for passengers across Dubai during the Holy Month,” Hala CEO, Khaled Nuseibeh added.
Beyond Tip Matching, both entities will provide daily Iftar meals to Captains throughout Ramadan across the UAE.
The companies said these efforts reflect the super-app’s year-round commitment to its Captain community, from flexible earning opportunities to insurance programmes and continued investment in their wellbeing and success.
