Sweid & Sweid has appointed McLaren Construction as main contractor for BAY360, its mixed-use development planned for Jumeirah Lakes Towers, with enabling works complete and main construction now under way.
Set partly on reclaimed land from Lake D, BAY360 is designed around the waterfront, combining upscale retail and dining, wellness facilities, landscaped outdoor areas and new public spaces. The developer is positioning it as a community focal point for the surrounding neighbourhood, with enhanced pedestrian connections intended to make the lakefront more accessible to residents and visitors.
“JLT has a large community, but much of the waterfront remains underused. BAY360 is our response to that opportunity, creating a destination that brings more life and activity to the lake,” Maher Sweid, Managing Partner of Sweid & Sweid said in a statement.
The appointment marks a second collaboration between the two companies. McLaren Construction previously delivered 6 Falak, a fully leased Grade A office building in Dubai Internet City that also serves as Sweid & Sweid’s headquarters and has since achieved LEED Gold certification, completed in 2024.
For BAY360, McLaren will handle site preparation, structural works, MEP, façade and interior fit-out, lifts and escalators, and all external landscaping and hardscape across the main retail building, office building and basement car park.
“Having delivered 6 Falak together, we know Sweid & Sweid well and understand what they expect from their projects. We look forward to bringing that experience to this exciting development,” Mark Hunt, Managing Director UAE at McLaren Construction added.
McLaren Construction, headquartered in London, has operated in the UAE since 2009. Its regional portfolio includes high-profile data centres, community malls, the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and the Foster + Partners-designed House of Wisdom in Sharjah. The group employs more than 1,100 people and reported turnover exceeding £1.1 billion.
BAY360 is scheduled for completion in Q1 2028.
