The Saudi-led coalition has carried out strikes on 82 Houthi military targets across Yemen following missile attacks on two Saudi airports that killed three people and wounded 36, according to local media reports.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Malki said the strikes were a direct response to what he called “brutal attacks by the Terrorist Houthi Militia on civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom,” including hits on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The targeted sites spanned four Yemeni provinces: Saada, Hodeidah, al-Jawf, and Marib. According to the coalition statement, they included 11 mountain-based ballistic missile storage sites in Saada, command and control centres, communications infrastructure, weapon depots, and Houthi assembly points.
“The brutal attacks by the Terrorist Houthi Militia on civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom, most recently targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport will not go unpunished,” al-Malki said.
The Iran-backed Houthis have launched repeated missile attacks on Saudi civilian infrastructure over the course of the Yemen conflict. The two airport strikes this week represent some of the most recent escalations in that pattern.
