Hala, the Dubai e-hailing taxi service and a joint venture between Careem and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has launched in Fujairah through a partnership with the Fujairah Transport Corporation, adding its third market in the United Arab Emirates.
The rollout follows a pilot phase in Fujairah and Dibba in which the emirate’s taxi fleet was integrated onto the Careem app.
Hala said the pilot led to improvements in operating metrics, including higher engagement from drivers and increased customer adoption of e-hailing.
Hala expands e-hailing service to Fujairah in partnership with local transport authority
“Partnering with the Fujairah Transport Corporation represents a pivotal milestone for Hala and for the UAE’s broader mobility ecosystem. Reliable, sustainable, and tech-driven transport solutions are only possible through collaboration with local regulators who deeply understand their communities’ needs. Together, we’re setting a new standard for accessibility, convenience, and smart transportation that is shaping the future of mobility in the UAE,” Khaled Nuseibeh, Chief Executive Officer of Hala said in a statement.
“The Corporation has always prioritised safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. By joining forces with Hala, we are embracing the next phase of transport modernisation, one that integrates digital innovation while preserving the trust and quality that Fujairah residents expect,” Asayel Albalghoni, General Manager of the Fujairah Transport Corporation added.
At launch, users in Fujairah will be able to book taxis through the Careem app with features already available in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, including real-time ride tracking, transparent Captain ratings and digital payments. Hala said the service will evolve based on community feedback.
Fujairah’s population growth and its role in tourism and logistics have increased demand for regulated e-hailing services. The launch places Hala in three emirates, expanding beyond its base in Dubai and its existing operations in Ras Al Khaimah.
The partnership adds to a UAE ride-hailing market where authorities have been integrating local taxi fleets onto digital platforms to manage supply, fare transparency and service quality.
Hala operates as a joint venture linking Careem’s technology with the regulatory framework of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority. Careem’s app is used for a range of mobility services in the Gulf, including taxis, ride-hailing and deliveries.
Hala said the Fujairah partnership supports local transport goals by connecting riders with licensed taxis through a unified platform.
The company did not disclose financial terms or fleet size for the Fujairah launch. Hala said the integration aims to improve driver utilization and booking reliability while keeping existing regulatory standards for pricing and safety.
The service is open to residents and visitors and will be available across Fujairah, including Dibba.
