The Arada Foundation has provided temporary accommodation to 387 people displaced by heavy rainfall in Sharjah, housing them at Nest Hotel in the Aljada development in partnership with the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) and Sharjah Civil Defense.

The support, which ran from March 25 to March 31, covered 363 adults and 24 children, with the foundation offering full-board accommodation at the hotel throughout the period.

“As one of Sharjah’s largest private-sector enterprises it is our duty to support both the community and local authorities during challenging times. The rainfall response marks the second time within a month that the Arada Foundation activated community support through Nest Hotel. Earlier in March, the foundation offered accommodation to stranded travellers in Sharjah during a separate episode of disruption.

Across both March initiatives, the foundation provided rooms to 287 adults and 40 children on a full-board basis, with support described as ongoing. In total, the two initiatives have generated over 3,000 room nights for families in need.

The collaboration with SSSD is not new. In April 2022, the two organisations worked together to house 1,148 people affected by flooding in Sharjah, making this the second time the two bodies have joined forces in response to weather-related emergencies in the emirate.

Nest Hotel opened in December at Aljada, Arada’s development in Sharjah. The property offers rooms alongside amenities and has been positioned to serve students, visitors and those seeking short-term stays. It forms part of Arada’s hospitality portfolio.

Arada has stated that community-focused initiatives remain a priority across its developments, with an emphasis on wellbeing, resilience and value creation for residents across Sharjah and the UAE.
