Arada has awarded a AED145 million contract to build a 400,000 square foot sports complex at Aljada in Sharjah, with completion slated for the end of 2026.

The developer said Dubai-based Civic Builders Trading & Contracting LLC has started on-site work at the facility, which will sit within a landscaped park at the companyโ€™s flagship Aljada development.

Arada said construction is underway after appointing Civic Builders for the project, part of the AED35 billion Aljada development. The contract value equals about $39 million based on the UAE dirhamโ€™s peg to the U.S. dollar. The complex is scheduled to be delivered by late 2026.

The site will include a full-size football pitch, several 5-a-side football fields, basketball, padel tennis, volleyball, squash and badminton courts.

Plans also feature cycling and jogging tracks and adventure play areas for children. Supporting amenities include changing rooms, public facilities and a water play area. Two underground parking levels are planned to serve the venue and the surrounding community.

Food and beverage offerings will comprise two outlets, including Reformatory Lab, an Australian coffee brand recently launched in the UAE.

“The delivery of this world-class sports complex is in line with our goal to enable an active, healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors to Aljada. Itโ€™s also another addition to the world-class amenities we continue to build across the community, which consistently enhance quality of life and increase long-term value for our homeowners,” Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada said in a statement.

Aljada spans 24 million square feet and is planned for 25,000 homes with residential, retail, hospitality, education, healthcare and leisure components. Arada has handed over 7,500 homes, with another 2,000 under construction, and reports a current population of about 20,000 residents.

The sports complex will add to existing assets at Aljada including the Madar Mall retail and entertainment hub, a business park, and a forthcoming cultural and performing arts centre designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Completed projects include the Nest student housing complex, SABIS International Schoolโ€“Aljada, and multiple phases of the Madar family entertainment district.

The project contributes to a pipeline of sports and community facilities across the UAE and the wider Gulf as public and private developers add venues to support population growth and mixed-use urban plans. Aljada is Aradaโ€™s largest project by value, at about $9.5 billion.
