The curtains have officially risen on the first-ever Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion, turning the world’s most-visited retail destination into a sprawling stage for live masterclasses, celebrity encounters, and high-fashion dialogue. Kicking off today, Thursday, January 29, the two-day event promises to redefine the shopping experience by bridging the gap between the runway and the retail floor
Organized in collaboration with the Arabic media platform Lana, the festival has taken over the Grand Atrium and Fashion Avenue, drawing thousands of fashion enthusiasts, industry insiders, and aspiring creatives to Downtown Dubai. With interest surging well before the opening—over 5,000 tickets were reportedly downloaded prior to day one—the atmosphere inside the mall is already electric, buzzing with a mix of local style icons and international visitors
The festival’s debut agenda is anchored by education and interaction rather than just observation. Unlike traditional fashion weeks that keep audiences at a distance, this event invites the public into the conversation. The program opens today with a highly anticipated headline masterclass by global beauty icon and artist Hindash, whose session sets the tone for a series of intimate, educational talks.
Over the next 48 hours, the Grand Atrium will host 12 exclusive masterclasses featuring some of the region’s most influential voices. Celebrity stylist Cedric Haddad is scheduled to lead a session titled “The Art of Looking Camera Ready,” offering practical insights on styling for the digital age, while Maram Zbaeda will explore “Cultural Codes in Contemporary Styling,” breaking down how heritage influences modern trends. Other key sessions include beauty storytelling with Mariam Khairallah and expert advice on accessories from Mai Galal
Beyond the stage, corridors have become immersive brand experiences. Major fashion and beauty houses, including Temperley London, Marc Jacobs, Level Shoes, Judith Leiber, and Armani Beauty, are hosting special activations, allowing visitors to engage with their latest collections in tangible ways.
While the daytime activities are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, the festival also includes high-level industry discussions. Panels moderated by prominent figures such as Louise Nichol and Ramia Farrage will tackle the business side of style, discussing everything from “AI & The Future of Fashion” to the financial growth of regional brands
The excitement is set to build toward a glamorous conclusion on Friday evening. The festival will culminate in the Dubai Mall Global Fashion Awards at the Armani Hotel Dubai, a black-tie gala designed to honor industry excellence. The finale will also feature an exclusive runway show by internationally acclaimed designer Reem Acra, bringing a touch of couture prestige to close the proceedings.
For Dubai Mall, this festival marks a strategic pivot from being purely a shopping hub to becoming an active cultural player in the global fashion scene. By democratizing access to industry experts and creating a space for learning, the venue is cementing its status not just as a place to buy fashion, but as a place to understand and celebrate it.
