Avatar: Fire and Ash has surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, the Walt Disney Studios announced on Sunday.
The 20th Century Studios’ film has earned $1.083 billion globally to date, with $306 million from domestic markets and $777.1 million from international territories.
The milestone makes Avatar: Fire and Ash the third film in the franchise to surpass $1 billion globally. The Avatar franchise now stands among franchises in cinema history where three films have each crossed the billion-dollar threshold.

The three Avatar films have delivered a combined global box office total exceeding $6.35 billion to date.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third $1 billion title released by The Walt Disney Studios in 2025 alongside Zootopia 2 and Lilo & Stitch.
The film ranks as the number two MPA global release of 2025 and number two among the year’s top-grossing MPA international releases.
China leads the international markets with $138 million, making it the second highest-grossing MPA film of 2025 in that territory. France has contributed $81 million to the total, whilst Germany has delivered $64 million and Korea $44 million.
The film has built its global total through sustained performance driven by premium-format demand and extended international play, according to Disney.
James Cameron directed Avatar: Fire and Ash and co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The story was developed by Cameron, Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
Cameron and Jon Landau produced the film, with Richard Baneham, Rae Sanchini and David Valdes serving as executive producers.
The film stars Sam Worthington as Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully and Zoe Saldaña as Na’vi warrior Neytiri. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, David Thewlis, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Brendan Cowell, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Duane Evans Jr and Kate Winslet.
Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its theatrical run in cinemas worldwide.
The franchise began in 2009 with the release of Avatar, which has remained one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history. The phenomenon has been defined by theatrical staying power since that initial release, according to Disney.
