The Beverly Hills home of singer Rihanna was struck by gunfire on Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has confirmed. No one was injured in the incident, and a suspect has been taken into custody.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at the property at 13:15 local time (21:15 GMT). According to a police official who spoke to CBS News, the BBC‘s US partner, assault rifle casings were found at the scene.
A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was inside the mansion at the time of the shooting.

Police say a woman in her 30s stopped a car outside the home and fired seven shots before driving away at speed. Her vehicle was located approximately eight miles (12km) from the singer’s property, where she was subsequently detained. She has not yet been publicly identified.
The LAPD confirmed that the home targeted belonged to Rihanna. A police official told CBS News that assault rifle casings had been recovered at the scene. The suspect was located and taken into custody following a search in the surrounding area.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, is currently in a relationship with rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple share three children: two sons named Riot and RZA, and a daughter born last September. The birth of their third child was announced at last year’s Met Gala, where Rihanna revealed her pregnancy.
The family made headlines earlier this year when A$AP Rocky was found not guilty in February of firing a gun at a former friend. Rihanna attended the trial with the couple’s two sons.
The Barbados-born performer rose to prominence in the early 2000s with tracks including Pon de Replay and Umbrella. She recently marked 20 years since the release of her debut album.
