Jimmy Kimmel will deliver Channel 4’s Alternative Christmas Message on December 25, the broadcaster has announced.
The address, which airs annually on Christmas Day, serves as an alternative to the British monarch’s televised message to the nation. The tradition began in 1993 and has featured figures including former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whistleblower Edward Snowden and actor Brigitte Bardot.
According to Channel 4, Kimmel’s message will see him reflect on recent months, including the suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” by ABC following a monologue made after Charlie Kirk’s murder.

The network described the address as “deeply personal and characteristically jovial.”
Channel 4 stated that Kimmel’s Christmas message includes the line: “From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.”
In his final monologue of 2025 for Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 19, Kimmel addressed viewers about the year’s events.
“This has been a strange year. It’s been a hard year,” Kimmel said. “We’ve had some lows, we’ve had some highs. For me, maybe more than any year of my life. I’m crying already, I’m sorry.”
The host thanked fans for their support during the year, which included the suspension of his programme, his feud with President Donald Trump and the death of his childhood friend Cleto Escobedo III in November. Escobedo served as bandleader on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
“I just want to say that we appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, and not just for watching,” Kimmel said. “This year, you literally pulled us out of a hole, and we cannot thank you enough personally.”
The Alternative Christmas Message has become a tradition for Channel 4 since its inception three decades ago.
