Nakheel has awarded a marine and beach works contract to Mar Marine & Building Contracting L.L.C. for Island B at Dubai Islands, adding another package to the construction programme taking shape across the five-island development off the Deira coast.

The scope covers the construction of new breakwaters, removal of existing rock revetments, and the formation of a new beach near Bay Villas.

Mar Marine will also refurbish and carry out remedial works on several existing beach areas along the western side of Island B, tying upgraded and new stretches of coastline together.

In total, the contract adds 320 metres of beach frontage near Bay Villas and upgrades approximately 3km of the island’s western shoreline. Works are scheduled for completion by Q4 2027.

The marine contract is the third major package awarded for Island B in under a year. In August 2025, Nakheel awarded an AED 2.6 billion construction contract to Fibrex Contracting L.L.C. for Bay Villas itself, a 636-home community of villas and townhouses. An AED 527 million contract followed in April 2026, awarded to Al Nasr Contracting Company for primary infrastructure and utilities works on the island.

“Dubai Islands is being delivered as a distinctive waterfront destination designed around the experience of residents and visitors. Building on the infrastructure works already under way on Island B, the new beach frontage near Bay Villas and enhancements to the western shoreline will create a high-quality coastal environment that develops in step with the wider masterplan,” Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate said in a statement.
