Dubai has approved a AED3 billion beaches development plan aimed at increasing beach capacity for tourists and visitors by 170%, as part of efforts to position the emirate as the world’s best city to live in by 2040.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, confirmed that work on the plan is under way, with teams operating at pace across projects.
“There has been no slowdown, and there will be none,” Sheikh Mohammed said via a post on X.
Sheikh Mohammed recently toured Al Mamzar Beach, one of the projects identified as a priority under the plan. The site is described as nearing completion and spans four million square feet.
Once open, it is expected to accommodate up to seven million visitors annually, positioning it as one of Dubai’s destinations for families.
The beaches plan forms part of a broader development agenda tied to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which sets out a framework for the emirate’s growth over the coming decades. Sheikh Mohammed stated that the pace of delivery across projects would continue to accelerate.
“We remain committed to a clear development agenda, with even greater achievements ahead,” he said.
The approval of the AED3 billion plan and the progression of Al Mamzar Beach signal the direction Dubai intends to take as it builds out its tourism and residential infrastructure ahead of the 2040 target.
