The Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies announced the closure of all central markets, cooperative society branches, affiliated shops, and pharmacies from 11pm Tuesday until 6am Wednesday due to the current situation.
The union said the measure is in support of government efforts to enhance security and stability and to enable relevant authorities to carry out their duties efficiently, urging all cooperative societies and their staff to comply fully with instructions and cooperate with the relevant authorities.
The UAE National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) announced that air defence systems are currently engaged with a missile threat, urging the public to remain in a safe location and monitor official channels for further warnings and updates.
The United Arab Emirates expressed deep regret over the UN Security Council’s failure to adopt a draft resolution demanding the immediate cessation of all attacks on vessels and attempts to impede freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
“The Strait of Hormuz must remain open to all, and the freedom of navigation must be preserved,” the UAE said, adding that “no country should have the power to shut down the arteries of global commerce and drive the world to the brink of economic calamity.”
The UAE emphasised that the Security Council’s failure to act does not diminish the urgency of the crisis or its resolve, thanking Bahrain for its leadership on the Council and its diplomatic efforts.
The UAE added that it will continue to push for international efforts to restore navigation through the strait and work with partners to advance coordinated action to secure global commerce.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior urged citizens and residents to remain at home and avoid going out except in cases of absolute necessity from midnight on Tuesday, April 7, until 6am on Wednesday, April 8, as a precautionary measure to maintain public safety and enable security authorities to carry out their duties efficiently amid the current regional situation.
The ministry affirmed that the measure is aimed at preserving security and stability, calling on everyone to comply with instructions issued by the relevant authorities during this period.
Kuwait Municipality announced the closure of all shops and commercial activities from midnight Tuesday until 6am Wednesday, in line with a directive from the Ministry of Interior to implement precautionary measures to maintain community safety amid the current regional situation.
Shop and business owners were urged to cooperate with municipal teams to enhance safety levels and enable relevant authorities to carry out their duties efficiently.
The Ministry of Interior had previously called on citizens and residents to remain at home and avoid going out except in cases of absolute necessity during the same period.
