Prime Video has released the first images from its upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, which stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.
The series is in production and adapts the video game franchise. Prime Video greenlit the project in May 2024, and Turner’s casting was reported in November 2024.
Turner joins actresses who have played Croft on screen. Angelina Jolie portrayed the archaeologist and adventurer in two films, and Alicia Vikander appeared in another.

The cast includes Martin Bobb-Semple, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer and executive producer. Chad Hodge is an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Waller-Bridge. Jonathan van Tulleken will serve as director and executive producer.
The first Tomb Raider video game was released in 1996, and Lara Croft became a female action icon. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the most recent game, came out in 2018.
Publishers have remastered many of the games over the years. Two games, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, are scheduled for release in 2026 and 2027.
Crystal Dynamics, Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins via Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson of Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel, Hodge, van Tulleken and Legendary Television serve as executive producers.
Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios produce Tomb Raider. Waller-Bridge is under an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios.
The series was developed under a pact between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios, which comes via Story Kitchen’s first-look deal with the studio to develop Tomb Raider stories into series and films.
