British fashion designer Stella McCartney and Swedish retail giant H&M have announced a new collaboration set to launch in Spring 2026, marking exactly twenty years since their groundbreaking first partnership in November 2005.
Unveiling at the 2025 fashion awards
The collaboration was revealed during the 2025 British Fashion Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on December 1, 2025. First glimpses of the upcoming collection appeared on the red carpet, with models and celebrities wearing pieces from the forthcoming line, including Amelia Gray, Anitta, Emily Ratajkowski, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Bel Priestley, Alton Mason, and Chiara Nergin.
Emily Ratajkowski wore a short black dress with draped shoulder details, while Amelia Gray stunned in a shimmering beige lace and crystal mini dress. Anitta appeared in a custom-made long red gown designed specifically for her.
“Reworking all these pieces with H&M genuinely feels like returning to my roots. It’s brought back so much energy and joy to revisit it all,” McCartney shared. Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Head of Womenswear Design, explained: “We wanted to make sure we captured the spirit of Stella, the feminine power and the effortlessness. From her groundbreaking work at Chloé in the nineties, when she brought such a cool London energy to Paris, to her rule-breaking designs under her own label in the Noughties”.
Sustainability and responsible materials at the core
The new collection emphasizes the sustainability standards for which Stella McCartney is renowned. Pieces will be crafted from certified and responsible materials, many of which are recycled, offering alternatives to traditional fabrics and textiles.
In an official statement, McCartney said: “This second partnership feels like an opportunity to look at the distance we’ve traveled in terms of sustainability, cruelty-free practices and conscious design, while remaining honest about the distance we still have to travel together. Real change only happens when we push from outside and inside together, and I’ve always believed in infiltrating from within to push our industry forwards”.
The insights board: A new initiative for industry dialogue
The collaboration includes the launch of the Insights Board, a new initiative designed to bring together diverse voices and perspectives from the fashion industry to create a space for curiosity and listening. This board aims to find new ways for brands and the industry as a whole to influence and innovate for change, while raising awareness about animal welfare issues and innovation-led solutions.
The 2005 Stella McCartney collaboration was H&M’s second designer partnership following Karl Lagerfeld. The original campaign featured supermodel Kate Moss, and the collection launched in approximately 400 selected H&M stores across 22 countries worldwide.
The H&M x Stella McCartney collection will be available in stores and online in Spring 2026 during the first half of the year.
