Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the development plan for Al Freish Lake in Kalba, a site covering approximately 51,200 square metres with a water storage capacity of up to 28 million gallons and 200 parking spaces for visitors.
The lake will be developed behind Al Marsh Square along a stretch of roughly 750 metres. Sheikh Dr Sultan described the project as a family destination comparable to the Al Rafisah Dam development.
“It will be a pleasant park for children, similar to Al Rafisah Dam project,” he said. “Trees are currently being planted on the mountain in this area, and there are also waterfalls among the trees that flow into the sea. People will be able to park their cars, walk and enjoy a stroll in this area and make the most of it.”
Kalba, situated on the east coast of the emirate, has seen increasing investment in green and recreational infrastructure in recent years. The Al Freish Lake project adds to that trajectory, combining water storage infrastructure with public leisure space in a single development.
