The UAE Ministry of Interior has warned the public about a vehicle insurance scam spreading across social media platforms, in which fraudsters create fake accounts impersonating licensed insurance companies and brokers.
In an X post, the ministry said the scheme works by advertising policies at unusually low prices to lure victims into paying upfront. Once payment is made, no valid policy is issued.
The ministry urged residents to verify that any insurance provider or broker holds an official licence before transferring money, and to purchase cover only through approved digital platforms or licensed offices operating in the UAE. It also cautioned against engaging with offers that appear too good to be true.
