The International Maritime Organization announced on Tuesday a large-scale evacuation plan for 11,000 sailors currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
The London-based body said the operation will be carried out in coordination with Iran, Oman, the United States, and other countries in the region, alongside the maritime industry.
IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said the necessary safety guarantees have been secured and that safe navigation conditions have been fully verified to support the operations.
