The Governorate of Dhofar has signed a contract with the Oman Ministry of Energy and Minerals to establish the Ateen Natural Park project in the Wilayat of Salalah, at a cost of more than four million Omani riyals.
The signing took place in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
The project is located in the Atin Plain in the state of Salalah, covering an area of approximately 270,000 square metres. It is designed as a destination that combines nature, comfort and family activities.

The park will include a water canal, areas for games and entertainment, restaurants, rest areas, a space for events and activities, and public facilities.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Dhofar Governorate, the Social Responsibility Development Foundation for the Energy Sector, and Petroleum Development Oman.
The partnership reflects what organisers describe as “the integration of roles between government agencies, the private sector, and the local community.” The project aims to contribute to revitalising tourism, in particular during the autumn season, and to enhance the utilisation of the natural resources the governorate holds.
The contract was signed on behalf of the governorate by Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Ba’awain, Director General of the Directorate General of Projects and Technical Affairs at Dhofar Municipality.
Signing on behalf of the company implementing the project were Hafeez bin Salem Al-Haddad, and Abdullah bin Mubarak Al-Shukaili, Head of Social Responsibility, representing Petroleum Development Oman.
The agreement falls within efforts “aimed at enhancing the tourism and entertainment assets in Dhofar Governorate, supporting sustainable development and social responsibility initiatives, and improving the quality of life.
